^{ArRum (Arabic: الْرُّوم, 'The Romans') is the 30th chapter (surah) of the Quran. It consists of 60 verses (ayat). The term Rum originated in the word "Romans" and in the time of Muhammad (S.A.W) referred to the Byzantine Greeks (Eastern Roman Empire), hence the title is sometimes also translated as "The Greeks" or "The Byzantines".} Alif-Lãm-Mĩm. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Alif, Lām, — Saheeh International The Romans have been defeated — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran The Byzantines have been defeated1 — Saheeh International in a nearby Yet following their defeat, they will triumph — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran In the nearest But they, after their defeat, will overcome — Saheeh International ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ within three to nine The ˹whole˺ matter rests with Allah before and after ˹victory˺. And on that day the believers will rejoice — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command [ decree] before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice — Saheeh International at the victory willed by Allah. He gives victory to whoever He wills. For He is the Almighty, Most Merciful. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran In the victory of He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. — Saheeh International ﭑ ﭒ ﭓ ﭔ ﭕ ﭖ ﭗ ﭘ ﭙ ﭚ ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ˹This is˺ the promise of Allah. ˹And˺ Allah never fails in His promise. But most people do not know. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran [It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know. — Saheeh International They ˹only˺ know the worldly affairs of this life, but are ˹totally˺ oblivious to the Hereafter. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. — Saheeh International ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ Have they not reflected upon their own being? Allah only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. Yet most people are truly in denial of the meeting with their Lord! — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Do they not contemplate within themselves?1 Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. — Saheeh International ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might; they cultivated the land and developed it more than these ˹Meccans˺ ever have. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. Allah would have never wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed [or excavated] the earth and built it up more than they [ the Makkans] have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. — Saheeh International ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ Then most evil was the end of the evildoers for denying and mocking the signs of Allah. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. — Saheeh International It is Allah Who originates the creation, and will resurrect it. And then to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran Allah begins creation; then He will repeat it; then to Him you will be returned. — Saheeh International .
